Al Shiyou, founder and principal of Shiyou Law Firm, is also a native of Pinola, Mississippi. He received his A.A. degree from Copiah Lincoln Junior College, his B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi, and his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law.
While attending law school, Al served as a probation officer in Hinds County, as an agent for the Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control, and he also worked with Nationwide Insurance Company as an agent. After his graduation, he was the manager of the Trust Department for Trustmark National Bank in Hattiesburg for five years before opening his own law firm.
Since 1987, Al has been engaged in the general practice of law in Hattiesburg and Shiyou Law Firm. Al is a member of the Mississippi State Bar and is admitted in all State and Federal courts in Mississippi, the U. S. Supreme Court, and the U. S. Tax Court. He has also successfully presented a number of cases to our Court of Appeals and to the Mississippi Supreme Court.
He is also involved with various local, community activities, including the Pine Burr Area Council; the Boy Scouts of America, where he is on their Board of Directors and Vice President of Endowments; the Civil Air Patrol where he is a Major, Lieutenant Colonel and Vice Commander of the Mississippi wing; and he is also an active member of Temple Baptist Church, where he has taught Sunday School for more than twenty years.
Al is married to Beth, a pharmacist, and they have one son, Christian, who is currently an attorney and member of the Shiyou Law Firm, and a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Christian Shiyou, is a native of Collins, Mississippi. He received his B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi, and his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law.
While attending law school, Christian received clinical litigation experience through Mississippi College School of Law’s Youth Court and Adoption clinics. He also worked with the Forrest County Prosecutor’s Office as a limited practice student attorney where he assisted in prosecuting cases in Forrest County Youth Court and Justice Court.
Since 2021, Christian has been engaged in the general practice of law in Hattiesburg with Shiyou Law Firm. Christian is a member of the Mississippi Bar and is admitted in all State and Federal courts in Mississippi.
He is married to Hannah Shiyou and they are active members in the First Baptist Church Ellisville. Christian also serves the state and local community with the Civil Air Patrol where he is a Squadron Commander of the Pine Belt Composite Squadron in Hattiesburg. Christian also serves as a pilot and a Search and Rescue team leader with the CAP.
