Al Shiyou, founder and prinicipal of the firm is a native of Pinola, Mississippi. He received his A.A. degree from Copiah Lincoln Junior College, his B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law.
While in law school, he served as a probation officer in Hinds County, as an agent for the Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control and worked with Nationwide Insurance Company as an agent. After graduation he was the manager of the Trust Department for Trustmark National Bank in Hattiesburg for five years before opening his own firm.
Since 1987, Al has been engaged in the general practice of law in Hattiesburg. The firm now engages three attorneys. He is a member of the Mississippi State Bar and admitted in all State and Federal courts in Mississippi, the U. S. Supreme Court and the U. S. Tax Court. He has successfully presented a number of cases to our Court of Appeals and to the Mississippi Supreme Court.
He is involved with various community activities including the Pine Burr Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, where he is on their Board of Directors and Vice President of Endowments, the Civil Air Patrol where he is a Captain and Deputy Commander for Cadets, and is an active member of Temple Baptist Church where he has taught Sunday School for over twenty years.
He is married to Beth, a pharmacist, and they have one son, Christian who is 16, a Cadet in the Civil Air Patrol and an Eagle Scout.
